Client’s Response -I would like to cover the topic of how recent advancements in AI technologies have strengthened the case for the implementation of a UBI (universal basic income) in some countries, including Canada. Overall, a UBI has been proposed by some to mitigate the social harm that is being created by automation in the workforce, with many people’s jobs being threatened by AI technologies due to the replacement of human workers.

My Rewrite – The impact of AI and automation on the Canadian economy and its workforce is a growing issue. Accordingly, I would like to cover the topic of how recent advancements in AI technologies that lead to automation have raised concerns among Canadians in regard to their job security. Canadians are concerned that AI will will lead to automation in the workforce, which will create job losses. In the informative paper I will highlight concerns that Canadians have regarding the threat to job security and the future of work in Canada.

My Rewrite: Canada is one of the leading AI labour markets in the world, producing highly educated and trained AI professionals to export to the global labour market. If AI is used to replace workers in knowledge-intensive fields, far fewer jobs will be available for Canadians, which could trigger increased poverty. Locally, increased AI adoption will translate in job losses and workplace disruptions for most low and medium-skilled workers. Unfortunately, the social safety net is lacking, and no provisions are made for people put out of work by AI. Canada risks increasing household disparities with the changes in the labour market, with some adults failing to meet basic necessities.
