It is agreeable that the effects of the decision of either acceptance to perform or refrain from an abortion would affect the Franklin’s in terms of their personal lives. Essentially abortion is performed because of the presence of rights towards either the mother or the fetus. Circumstances ensure that individuals are driven by the need to exercise their liberties in order to accrue certain benefits such as better lifestyles, eradication of health complications and saving the life of the mother.

The issue of exercise of abortion because of issues such as the sex of the baby and the need top retain or achieve privileges such as better careers and lifestyles. This issue assumes a moral and ethical perspective in that it indicates of the social preference for comfort over aspects such as respect for natural precedent, which determines issues such as sex of the baby. This rationale defeats common knowledge in that it gives preference for vanity over a vital issue such as the respect for life. In addition, in order to respect individual reproductive autonomy of the women there is need to assume a utilitarian perspective in assuming a position (Garrett, Baillie, McGeehan, Garrett, 2010).

Respect for both the lives and liberties of the fetus and the mother is paramount. Arrival at making a decision to other perform an abortion or refrain from having one could also be avoided with use of measure such as contraceptives to ensure minimal controversy in choosing the life of a parent over the lifestyles and liberties of the mother. Hence, to avoid such dilemmas, couples could aim at adoption of children to satisfy their need for children of specific sexes. The comment provided provides an elaborate and agreeable view in that, the preference to give respect to vanities over the respect for life is astonishing. This is because the contemporary society is focused on respect for issues such as the lifestyles, careers and social stature accrued from lifestyles assumed by an individual or couple. The writer provides that personal issues have taken precedence over the respect for life, which is an indication of the existent moral and ethical considerations (Garrett, Baillie, McGeehan, Garrett, 2010).

Additionally the author assumes a perspective that an abortion is determined by the circumstance of the mother or the couple. This is agreeable in that the circumstances may include the need for respect of individual autonomy. Individual autonomy is paramount in the modern society; however, it should also be exercised with respect for the autonomy and liberties accruable by a fetus. On the other hand, there is controversy in terms of exercising abortion based on the age of the fetus. A fetus irrespective of its age could be assumed as undergoing the process of life. Additionally, age or stage of development of the fetus is paramount in that a fetus in the early stages of formation has not assumed the figure or soul of an infant or fully-grown fetus (Garrett, Baillie, McGeehan, Garrett, 2010).

Conclusively, abortion should be exercised with respect to the moral, ethical and legal considerations set up by the society and state respectively. The writer is against abortion based on the need to accrue liberties such as access to luxuries from preferred lifestyles and careers. Abortion should give precedence of issues, which assume a utilitarian perspective by assuming a view that accrues maximum good or benefits for both the fetus, the mother and the society. Life is paramount; hence, a fetus should be granted an opportunity like the mother and the rest of the society to access the joys and pains of existence in the world (Garrett, Baillie, McGeehan, Garrett, 2010). Respect to life is paramount in comparison to issues such as lifestyles and the associated luxuries.
