Comparison/Contrast between Hinduism and Judaism

Part 1

Topic Summary

Hinduism and Judaism have striking parallels. However, there are as many similarities as there are differences. Although both religions are practiced by different people (Hinduism is practiced by the Hindus while Judaism is practiced by the Jews), their similarities and differences attracts attention from many people, whether they are scholars or people interested in the diversity of religions. To narrow the topic, the paper analyses these two religions in relation to the ultimate fundamental features. The paper compares and contrasts the five ultimate fundamental features in Hindu and Judaism.

Outline

Introduction: the introduction includes a short background (including the origins) of the two religions and the common view of both religions. A summary of the ultimate fundamental features will be included. The content will be narrowed down to the two religions. A thesis statement will be included in the last sentence of the first paragraph.

Thesis: Hinduism and Judaism are more similar that they appear to have, as far as ultimate fundamental features are concerned.

Body: The ultimate fundamental features of the two religions will be compared and contrasted more critically in this section. These fundamentals include the basic worldview, the ultimate power, origin or destiny of humanity, sacred stories and texts, and mediation and revelation. The content will incline towards supporting the thesis of the paper.

Conclusion: The thesis of the paper will be restated. It will be stated how the similarities can be used to create religion harmony rather than creating a religious discord.
