The life expectancy for the people of New Zealand is 79 years for males, and 83 years for females. (Mortality and Demographic Data 2009). The infant mortality rate is 4.6 per 1000 live births. Total deaths in New Zealand for the March 2012 year was 29,811, which is a 2% increase over last year (Births and Deaths: Year ended March 2012).

“Although chronic non-infectious illnesses are major causes of morbidity and mortality in New Zealand, diseases that are preventable by vaccination still occur. These diseases would have a significant effect on health in the absence of vaccination. Vaccination rates are a good indicator of people’s access to, and the effectiveness of, health care received in the community, such as from a general practitioner.

This indicator shows the percentage of children aged two years who are immunized, according to the vaccination schedule. In 2005, the proportion of immunized two-year-olds was 77 percent. According to the WHO, among men the overweight % os 72 % of the population and among women it is 75% of the population. By the year 2015, this is forecast to 72% and 79% respectively for men and women.

In terms of life expectancy, infants in Saudi Arabia are ranked 67^th and 87^th respectively for men and women, but as they grow older the rank goes down significantly. Between the ages of 35 and 60, both mean and women are ranked in the late 90’s in the world for life expectancy. A leading cause of this is related to the earlier point about cardio vascular disease that is directly related to social habits.

Among all people, Saudi Arabia is ranked as high as 32 in the world for cardio vascular disease as a cause of death.

For both men and women, looking at health risk factors, obesity is ranked as number 1 with a world ranking of 20. This is significant considering that this is directly related to a number of other causes of death.

In world rankings, Saudi Arabia is ranked 4^th in the world for hypertension.
