The Chunnel Project

The Chunnel Project was used to describe the connection between England and France through an underground tunnel. For the overall success of the project, it required the adequate cooperation of the two governments, as they were responsible for facilitating payments and other legal undertakings for the successful completion of the project. In addition, any changes, which both parties wanted, made required approval by both parties to avoid any misunderstandings hence the requirement of utmost cooperation between the two countries. The success of the project can be attributed to adequate and appropriate planning and the incorporation of the four phases of project management namely: project inception, project development, project implementation and project closeout.

Project management can be a difficult task if there is inadequate cooperation from the stakeholders to establish best practices. This is essential in that, the roles, duties and responsibilities of the project management office are deliberated upon with the inclusion of the various stakeholders within the project specifically within projects of great magnitude. Should there have been proper delegation and deliberation on the duties and responsibilities, the project costs could have been forecasted the subsequent risks being distributed adequately and equally.
